How to use Sequencing Cards

First read The Very Hungry Caterpillar together. Afterwards, talk about the book. 

  • What happened in the beginning, middle and end of book?

  • What was their favorite part?

  • What was their least favorite part?

  • Introduce the sequence cards

  • Show the cards to child and talk about each one

  • Next, invite your child to put the cards in order. 

  • You may need to help child at first, and you may need to reference the book to get the cards in the correct order

After the cards are in order, invite your child to retell the story using the cards!
