Letter Hunt Bingo

Letter Hunt Bingo is a fun variation of traditional bingo. This simple winter activity for kids is a great literacy game and also helps burn off some of that extra energy! Print off the free PDF Bingo Cards above and follow the directions below.
  1. Print bingo cards
  2. Cut out the letter squares from page 3 and 4.
  3. Gather objects to use as bingo chips (example: Cheerios, buttons, pompoms or cotton balls).
  4. Let your child pick one of the bingo cards.
  5. Give them a pile of bingo chips.
  6. Place your stack of letter squares face down.
  7. Pick a letter card randomly from the pile and show your child.
  8. Have your child look at their bingo card to see if they have the letter.
  9. If they do-they need to run around and try to find the letter somewhere in the house! For example, they could find the letter on a book, a food label or even a toy.
  10. Once they find the letter, they need to show it to you and tell you the sound the letter makes.
  11. After they have shown you the letter, they can cover it on their bingo card with one of the bingo chips.
  12. Continue until someone gets Bingo!

D.E.A.R. Time

D.E.A.R time is a really fun way to break up the day and switch things up when kids are getting restless.

D.E.A.R. stands for Drop Everything And Read!

Anyone can call D.E.A.R. time at any point in the day.  Whenever someone calls for D.E.A.R. time, everyone stops what they are doing, grabs a book, finds a cozy spot and reads! You can read together or everyone can read on their own.

This is a fun way to get kids excited about reading, especially when everyone in the house is participating!

Read for a set amount of time.

After you are finished reading, print out of the above PDF and ask your child to draw a picture of their favorite part of the book they just read.
