How to make Sidewalk Chalk Ice
Mix 1 cup of corn starch and 1 cup of water
Add a few drops of food coloring to each cube in the ice tray
Pour the corn starch and water mixture into each cube
Fill each cube 3/4 full
Add a craft stick to each cube
Place ice tray in the freezer for about 2 1/2-3 hrs
Loosen the sidewalk chalk cubes from the tray
Bring the ice cubes outside and let your child paint
This typically won’t stain your driveway or sidewalk, however if you are concerned, do a little test off to the side to be sure.
Spray sidewalk chalk off with a water hose as soon as your kids are finished to avoid the chalk baking into the sidewalk and potentially leaving a stain.
If the weather isn’t quite warm enough (which was the case for us as we live in WA state and did this in early June) set the ice cube tray outside for about 10 minutes or so to let the ice melt and soften a bit.
