Helping kids strengthen their fine motor skills is an important part of early childhood development. Strong fine motor skills are needed for children to be able to successfully write, tie their shoes, use a zipper and many other important tasks!
Number tracing with Q-tips is a colorful, fun, stress-free way for kids to practice and strengthen those important fine motor skills while also practicing number recognition and writing.

Q-Tip Number Tracing Activity
Set out cups and Q-tips
Add paint to each cup
Write numbers 1-10 on a piece of construction or card-stock paper
Invite your child to dip the Q-tips in paint and trace the numbers written on the paper
Encourage your child to start at the top of the number and trace downward-just like you would when writing numbers
Encourage your child to continue and trace all 10 numbers!
For a fun extension activity- invite your child to add corresponding paint dots next to each number (example: add one paint dot next to the number one, two paint dots next to the number 2)
