create a bug
Kids will love this simple, super fun art activity. Just set out all the supplies and see what fun bug creations your little one creates.
First gather supplies.
Use construction paper and cut out lots of different shapes in a variety of colors.
Cut out long thin rectangles to use as legs.
Next, use a hole puncher and create small dots to use as as spots for the bugs. You can also set out buttons, pom-poms or stickers.
Put out pipe cleaners for antennas.
Set out googly eyes if you have them.
Put out all the materials along with a large piece of paper and encourage your child to create their very own bug!

Extension Activities

Go to the library and pick out books about bugs before you introduce this bug project.

Read the books together.

Talk about the different types of bugs you’ve read about. Discuss how bugs are the same and how they are different? Talk about how bugs have 2 antennas, 6 legs, a head a thorax and an abdomen.

After the bug has been created, ask your child to tell you a story about the bug they’ve created. Write down-word for word-their story and display the story next to their bug creation
