directions
How to Make a Fall Writing Tray
Add 3 cups of rice to a large Ziploc bag
-
Add 3 teaspoons of vinegar to the rice
Add several drops of orange food coloring
I also added a few drops of yellow food coloring, after I mixed in the orange food coloring, to give it a candy corn look!
You can also use red and yellow food coloring
Close bag and mix well!
Lay rice on a paper towel lined tray and allow to dry
It can take anywhere from 2-24 hours for the rice to dry
Once the rice is dry add it to a tray
I find that using a thin layer works best for a writing tray
Clip two clothespins to the back edge of the tray
Place a tracing card inside the clothespins
With the paint brush encourage your child to write the letter written on the card!
When finished, simply shake the tray to erase the letter!
Add a new letter or number card to the clothespins holder
Write in the rice!
Continue as long as your child is interested and engaged
