This is a fun, simple, math extension activity to pair with the song Five Little Pumpkins and is always a hit with kids! Not only is it fun but it’s also an easy way to help kids reinforce important math concepts!

First, find five mini pumpkins, or pumpkin cutouts.
Draw a fence on a piece of construction paper or help your child build a fence like structure with blocks or other building materials you have around the house.
Set the pumpkins on top of the fence.
Count the pumpkins together. Be sure to point out the position of each pumpkin.
Talk about which pumpkin is first, second, third, forth and fifth.
Sing the song Five Little Pumpkins together. Raffi sings a great version of the song
While you sing the song together be sure to point to each pumpkin as you sing about it.
