At the heart of this Halloween adventure is Spookie Cookie, an adorable, playful (and not-too-spooky!) character from my original read-aloud story: Spookie Cookie and the Magic Sprinkle Mistake.
In the story, a sprinkle mishap causes the cookies your students made to vanish! But don’t worry- Spookie Cookie follows the sparkle trail, leaves behind a letter, and challenges your class to solve a series of rhyming riddles to find their missing cookies.
It’s part storytelling, part scavenger hunt, and completely magical.

Begin by reading Spookie Cookie and the Magic Sprinkle Mistake. This read-aloud sets the stage for your scavenger hunt and builds excitement as students learn about Spookie’s sprinkle mix-up!
Before the hunt begins, have students decorate paper cookie crafts or bake real ones as a class. It’s the perfect way to sneak in fine motor fun and get those creative juices flowing.
While your students are out of the room, place the rhyming clue cards around the school or classroom. Each clue leads them closer to finding their missing cookies.
OH NO! The cookies have disappeared! When the class returns, read the letter and the first clue from Spookie Cookie aloud.
Watch the excitement unfold as your students follow each clue, working together to solve the rhymes and move from one location to the next.
